With the new term well underway at Fairfield Farm College, there is lots going on across the campus. Here are a few updates from the various classes students are undertaking.
Following last week’s visit to Trowbridge Oaks Care Home, our Sports Leaders used their notes to plan an inclusive, fun activity session for the residents. They thought about including everyone whatever their ability. We also practiced a song called ‘Daisy Daisy’ because our new friends want to sing with us.
More great work from the P.E groups! We are working on our listening skills & target games. We learnt the full rules of New Age Kurling & played some games. We hope to have a competition in the near future!
Students get to grips with cleaning off the growing bench. Then they set to work tending the Pelargonium. This afternoon we got drenched harvesting and preparing flowers for a student who is unwell.
Corrie and Holly harvest our crop of Borlotti beans. Later Phoebe sets about the arduous work of separating the beans from the pod. They were then used for student lunches.
This week in Equine our groups have been learning how to lead the ponies. We have been practicing using our Shetland ponies, Mark and Tom. Students have been using suitable safety equipment and learning how to turn the ponies away from them so that they stay safe. For some of our first year students this is their first experience leading ponies. They all did extremely well.
